A current player with the Baltimore Ravens, Eugene Monroe, is directly funding research on the use of CBD to help NFL players experiencing effects from chronic traumatic encephalopathy. 96% of NFL players are believed to suffer from it as a result of frequent concussions and other trauma to the brain.
Former Denver Broncos quarterback Jake Plumer says that CBD helps him with inflamation, mental clarity and mood swings. He is a member of a group of NFL players, both current and former, asking the league to fund research into managing and preventing pain for the players through the use of CBD. There has not yet been a response from the league.
